Workshops, Classes, and Consultations

We love working with, and serving in our local community! We work hard to develop long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with neighbors, customers, and other farmers.  We enjoy providing for our local community, including consultation services, mentorship opportunities, hands-on classes and demonstrations, giving a portion of everything we raise to our neighbors in need, and of course, great-tasting and nutritious protein sources!

Farm tours naturally include a tour of the grounds, and a "meet and greet" of the animals.  You might even get to pet a goat or collect eggs, depending on my schedule, your preferences, and the animals' moods.

We have a home butchery masterclass debuting Spring of 2025 (date TBD). To be kept in the loop, please join our email list here.

I have had the amazing opportunity to assist several friends and other farmers in the following areas:

Home butchering
Rotational grazing strategy
Paddock/fencing planning and design
Getting started with chickens for eggs and meat
Getting started with baby chicks
Troubleshooting and "vet" assistance
Basic First Aid
"McGyver-ing" the farm

I have been backpacking and camping for almost all of my adult life.  My first ever hike was also my first camping trip, which was also my first time backpacking, over Spring Break, 1999.  Up the Guadalupe Peak Trail--the highest point in Texas.  All my kids have been hiking since they were 4 or 5 weeks old (yes, weeks), and camping since they were not much older than that.

As an outdoorswoman and leader for American Heritage Girls, I have been blessed to have spent the last 15 years teaching other girls and adults all kinds of outdoor skills, including camping, cooking, and basic and intermediate survival skills.

Courses include:

T.A.M.P.O.N.--The Ultimate Survival Tool

Duct Tape (and Fishing Line) Saves Lives

Basic First Aid/First Aid in a Pill Bottle

Survival 101--It's All In Your Head (How a Snickers bar and a nap can save your life)

Camping 101 (tent site selection and layout, how to pitch a tent, camp kitchen set-up and necessities, cooking/hygiene in the outdoors)
Emergency shelter building (even if you have zero gear with you)
Essential Outdoor Skills--food, clothing, shelter considerations, and how to dig a cathole (aka How to Poop in the Woods)
Knife safety, axe safety, and whittling
Fire Safety/Fire Building, including starting a fire without a match
Outdoor Cooking--Coleman stove, Dutch oven, Backpacking stove, Buddy Burners, Esbit stoves--and of course you get to eat in class!
Commonly used knots and lashings (short class--better combined with Camping 101 or Essential Outdoor Skills)
Backpacking Basics--how to pack and menu-plan for a backpacking trip--hint: it's more involved than shoving your crap in a bag, and heading off!
...and much more!

I am CPR/1st Aid Certified, and know basic Wilderness First Aid (though I'm not certified YET).

If there is something you or a group of your friends/homeschool group want to learn, don't hesitate to reach out and let's see what we can do!
