Pastured Eggs--non-GMO, corn-free, soy-free

7 Arrow Ranch

1 dozen pastured eggs | 1 carton = $6.00 + $0.10 Assembly

These pastured eggs are an amazingly nutritious food! The yolks are typically a deep yellow color, but there are color variations between eggs, which reflect each individual chicken's diet (some are better at catching grasshoppers than others, and some prefer foraged seedheads--all of which affect egg yolk color, but not nutritional quality).

Pasture-raised eggs are rich in vitamin A, D, DHA, and choline due to the wholesome natural diet of the chickens. Pastured eggs contain 2-10x the amount of Omega-3 DHA as eggs not raised on pasture* (don't take my word for it! Google this for yourself!).

These chickens are fed a corn-free, soy-free, non-GMO, non-medicated, locally-milled feed. Their natural diet consists of grasses, worms, insects, and food scraps/leftovers from our kitchen (which they love!). Chickens are not vegetarian by nature, thus eggs from vegetarian organic eggs are missing nutrients. These pastured chickens are also given an organic mineral-rich vitamin supplement in their feed (Fertrell nutribalancer, for those of you who like to do your research!)

Our chickens are contained behind electrified netting for their safety. While we do have livestock guardian dogs on property, the dogs mainly protect the larger livestock, and patrol the perimeter of our 20 acres. They won't chase the chickens, but may not necessarily protect them, either. The chickens' paddocks, at any given point in time, are about a 1/4- to a full-acre in size (depending on the needs of both the chickens and the land), giving each chicken over 250 square feet of space EACH. Look up any certified humane, animal welfare, or other 3rd party certifying organization, and you can see that we exceed their standards.

You do NOT need to refrigerate these eggs, unless I have already refrigerated them (which I do in the summer, or when I run out of shelf space). They last at room temperature for about 3 weeks. If you decide to refrigerate your eggs, they will last (unwashed--read below) for 5-6 months.

WASHED or UNWASHED?
We don't wash eggs. They will have natural bacteria and an intact "bloom", which is a natural, God-given, protective layer on them. Basically, the eggs are picked out of the hens' nest and placed right into the egg carton. Exposure to natural farm bacteria from chicken eggs has been found to build the immune system and help prevent allergies. If you are not "ready" for this, that is totally fine! Just wash your eggs with a mild soap and warm water. Make sure to either use the eggs immediately at this point, or get them in the fridge!! Once washed, your eggs cannot remain on your shelf, as removal of the bloom will cause spoilage. Washed eggs will last up to 3 weeks in the fridge.

Is our farm certified humane or certified anything? Nope. We don't believe in paying someone to come to our farm and say "yep, I can see, with my eyes, that your set-up exceeds our standards. Now let me see your paperwork." Which I have. But those certifications are costly, which raises the cost of goods for you, the consumer! Certifications are certainly fine for larger producers who sell commercially, and I look for certification, myself, on foods that I buy from the grocery store. But we, intentionally, want to remain a local food provider, and our customers are welcome to see, with your very own eyes, the living conditions of our livestock.
